A good sounding early recording. This is the second earliest non-fake circulating recording of Depeche Mode (first is 1980-10-30 Bridgehouse). This transfer has better sound than the bootlegs "King Of Strangers" and "A Nice Surprise". It's much clearer, with less distortion and noise. It's still very bass-heavy during some songs, and the bass can be overpowering. Audience noise is still missing between tracks, just as on the bootlegs. "Tora! Tora! Tora!" misses the last few seconds, and several other songs sound like they're missing the first few seconds. Dave forgot a line during "Ice Machine". "New Life" does not fade-in, and "Ice Machine" does not fade out as on the bootleg versions. "Ice Machine" seems to have a skip in it at 3:39; this is a flaw on my tape.
"I Sometimes Wish I Was Dead" is quite different from future live versions. Many other songs also have different drums or synths, so this short recording is worth a listen if you haven't heard it yet.

Salut,

I can't help it, I'm not sure what to do
Does seem crazy, no good for my health
I've seen the doctor, he's come to look at me
If you don't believe it, don't believe

Closer all the time, Closer all the time
Closer all the time, Closer all the time

Now I'm saying how I'm going to need a pill
I need you like a drug to keep my fill
I can't remember everything I do
Now I put them, it's only good to you

Closer all the time, Closer all the time
Closer all the time, Closer all the time

You can't help but look me in the eye
While I come running, I don't know why
It's an addiction, image of love
Your heart pushing, angel from above

Closer all the time, Closer all the time
Closer all the time, Closer all the time
Closer all the time, Closer all the time
Close!

D'après mes recherches, elle ne fut jouée que deux fois peut-être trois.
