DEPECHE MODE, Precious (Mute)
The Ben Hillier-produced first single from Depeche Mode's new album, Playing The Angel, will have you on first listen (single, Oct 10)"
Nick Nads, Head of Music, AT IT Productions
"This is the lead single from their new album Playing The Angel, which sounds as freshly minted as if just lifted off Violator or Music For The Masses. They are the band that helped invent Chicago house, Nine Inch Nails, electroclash and are responsible for nail varnish for the boys (yes the boys from Green Day, The Bravery and Busted owe them big time). Thank God they are back, big time. On the first hearing, you should be impressed, on the second hearing, you'll be under its bubbling spell. Unlike a lot of recent Eighties comebacks, they can be proud, as it's also one of their best singles and albums - a mighty return to form all round".

OK, here you go, this is what it has in it - pretty good, positive stuff - exciting:
Firstly, as I posted already, they have “The Music Week Playlist” – tracks, albums, downloads etc that they rave about for credibility, commerciality, excitement – radio programmers, retailers, etc will all see this. This is what they have to say, they are all short soundbite comments in Playlist but very concise:
“

Precious (Mute)
The Ben Hillier-produced first single from Depeche Mode’s new album, Playing The Angel, will have you on first listen (single, Oct 10)”
[by the way, still sure single is out Oct 3rd, they sometimes get those wrong due to record companies changing things, and Daniel Miller definitely said at the playback that single was 2 weeks earlier than the album on 17/10].
The above comment is a very positive one for them to be making……
OK, then further inside, they have a section called Tastemakers Tips, where each week 5-6 key industry people (could be DJ’s, producers, radio people, record company execs, A&R guys, etc etc) who Music Week say are tastemakers.
Precious is the very first one listed, with a photo (as does the one above). This is what it says (At It Productions is a TV production company, they make/produce a lot of very good and cool music TV related programmes in the UK):

OK, so the Eighties comeback comment is annoying, but wow – how positive and exciting is that! (and I don’t think it’s a MFTM track – much as I love that album). And he’s entirely right about the first/second listen thing – it’s exactly what happened to me at the playback.
So glad everyone backs me up and I’m not just an excited fan talking
