Hi,

Interview de Peter Hook (28-09-2006) :

Q : As in complicated artwork on LPs looking too small when issued on CD?

A : Yeah, but I do think CDs are wonderful. I was going around a CD shop in Auckland yesterday and found Mountain live (Twin Peaks). It’s an album I was really into during the ’70s, and they did a 25 minute version of Nantucket Sleighride and I was delighted that I had found it on CD. If I had found the record, I wouldn’t have been delighted.

A lot of people I know like Andy Rouke, Mani and Clint Boon will DJ with vinyl, but I don’t. What does irk me about CDs is that when someone puts a record on afterwards, it always sounds so much better. It gets depth and it gets warmth. Records really do sound better, nobody argues about that.

It was funny that you mentioned albums getting remastered, because we’re just remastering the Joy Division albums. I’m sure some people will see that as a travesty of justice. The remastering really opened up the songs and made them sound a lot different and a lot better in my mind . If you remastered them now and then put them on vinyl, then oh my god! Whoa (laughs). It would be fantastic!

Selon "Joy Division Central", cela concernerait "Unknown Pleasures" et "Closer" avec covers restorées, bonus (?), infos, et ressorties aussi en vinyles.
