L'article est dur ! (et certains commentaires sur Youtube aussi). A chaque fois qu'un orchestre symphonique s'attaque à des tubes rocks ou pop, c'est d'ailleurs le même style de critiques (il n' a que les airs de métal qui parfois y échappent). Finalement, le mélange des genres est compliqué pour beaucoup.

Je n'ai pas tout écouté l'album mais si on attend de retrouver l'original (voix, énergies, arrangements...), on est forcément déçu. Il faut y aller avec une oreille vierge.
Si on écoute Take On Me ou Dancing In The Dark, ces chansons très pop sont transformées en balade, donc forcément très différentes des originaux.

J'aime beaucoup la version de Brothers In Arms reprise par Simple Minds, avec des arrangements si... écossais justement (beaucoup d'intonations de musiques trads, l'Ecosse ne se résumant pas à la cornemuse)
La version d'Ashes To Ashes est pas mal aussi (mais bon peu de gens peuvent reprendre du Bowie et Seal a ce talent)

D'autres airs sont plus maladroitement chantés (mais, me concernant, je pense qu'il s'agit plus des voix qui ne m'emportent pas)

J'aime pas du tout non plus. Ce n'est pas tellement le fait d'avoir utilisé un orchestre, mais plutôt de l’avoir utilisé de façon aussi "kitch" ! Si le but était de "ringardiser" ces très bons titres des 80's, c'est plutôt raté, car c'est souvent l'inverse qui se produit.

Par ailleurs, je ne comprends pas pourquoi il ne s'est pas contenter de retravailler les morceaux qu'il avait lui même produit dans les 80's. Cela aurait pris un autre sens...

'Trevor Horn' revient avec l'album "Echoes – Ancient & Modern", dont "Personal Jesus" interprété par Iggy Pop.
Le superproducteur a enregistré 11 nouvelles versions de plusieurs classiques des 80s & 90s.
Il s'agit en fait d'un album de Trevor Horn avec des chanteurs invités.
"Echoes – Ancient & Modern" sortira sur CD, vinyle et en numérique le 1er décembre 2023,
il sera accompagné d'un livret comprenant une interview de son ami et collaborateur de longue date Paul Morley.
Un premier single "Slave to the Rhythm" de Grace Jones réinventé par Lady Blackbird est dispo.
