Doesn't Want To Work With Depeche Mode Anymore
August 09, 2005
Dutch artist Anton Corbijn, who has designed nearly every one of Depeche Mode's album and single covers since 1989 has decided he no longer wants to work with the band. In addition to album covers Corbijn directed all of the bands videos from 1986 to 1997 and designed the bands live stage set for every tour since 1993. "I'm sick of them" said Corbijn by phone from his studio. "I have not wanted to hurt their feelings by telling them this, so I have been doing very bad work for them for many years. I thought they would take the hint but they keep asking me to do more work." The polite artist went on to add "so I have made this cover for the song Precious as a final statement of my feelings. If they do not get it this time I will have to tell them that I quit." When asked what he would do instead of work with Depeche Mode he hinted that he would either continue his work with U2 or go on unemployment.
