We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format, In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We’re not going to stop making music, but the album format as such, this is the last thing from us… B+B
Now, for the questions!! How/when did you both meet? Did you guys "click" immediately? What concert have you played that sticks out most in your mind? If you could remix an artist that you haven't yet, who would it be? You've been vague about the reason behind stopping Röyksopp. Any chance you could clarify? Again, thank you for your music, and thank you for this AMA. Your music means so much to me.
S: Our origin story has been discussed in this AMA. But yes we did 'click' immediately. That whole thing still has an aura of magic and mystery attached to it. We are not stopping Röyksopp, we are just leaving the conventional/traditional album format. So just to be clear, we will continue to make music that will continue to be released both digitally and physically. Its just the album format we are parting ways with.
S: Ever since our first interview (approximately 1995), we have always expressed a love for those artists who got us into electronic music as kids; Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Art of Noise, Jean Michele Jarre to mention a few. This without being afraid of whether its 'cool' or not. "standing on the shoulders of giants..." etc - we give credit when credit is due
