Voici les premières reviews des fans US :
personally thought the show was a little bit blah compared to the other 2 shows i attended on this tour (san jose and staple center 1st night). might have something to do with the crowd around me. i was 102 row 0, dead center about 25 rows back, i did have better seats at the other shows. crowd was really flat i thought. biggest reason i think is that the accoustics at shoreline are pretty bad. Too much low end, the bass needed to come down, the drum set was too loud in the mix (from were i was sitting at anyways) and a lot of the mid-highs and highs were a little bit lost. Seemed like the band didnt get into it all that much, i mean, Dave didnt even take his shirt off for the entire gig. And we all know how much he likes takin off his shirt. it was a nice & cozy 66 degrees or so outside too, so it wasnt like it was cold. i broke a sweat dancing.
set list was cool, although definitely felt short. Stripped was great, nothing's impossible sounded amazing but it seemed no one around me had heard it before, photographic sounded dope but again the vast majority of the crowd had no idea. Mart said something like "this is the first track we ever recorded" before the start of photographic. thats was cool. set highlights as far as crowd response were I Feel You, PJ, ETS, and Never Let Me Down Again. Crowd energy finally picked up towards the end of the show. STD was great, but i definitely like the Dave sung version better.
last time i was at shoreline was 16 years ago for world violation, and the vibe in the place just wans't the same at all this time around. sj and staples center were a lot better i thought.
anyways, there's my $.02. Would love to check out the same set list with a different audience, in a different venue.
REVIEW FROM ACTUAL ATTENDEE
Finally got my freaking Vette out of the traffic and foot tall wheat brush field they call a parking lot at Shoreline.
Hope this answers some questions -
- Pre-show music is the same recording we all have. Was interesting as I listen to it all the time now.
- Stripped sounded just like in 98 with live drums. Very nice though.
- NI was friggin awesome. Christian played sort of rocky, heavier drums on it (heavier than the album which just sort of has thumps, not drums). I really liked it A LOT. The song has been a real grower for me and gets me very emotional. This live version is really great. It's clear they spent some time arranging it - it's not just some half ass. Oh, and it blows I Want It All away by a mile. Highlight of the new set for me. All the NI lovers on here will be brought to tears. The crowd was somewhat into it.
In Your Room - Just like in 98 and 01 but sounded different (better) without the backup singers. Martin did a lot more interesting guitar work, especially at the end when the chicks were wailing before.
- STD - When Mart came on stage, some woman sent her young daughter, from 7,8,9 years old, up on stage and she shook Mart's hand. He looked sort of confused but gave her a nice handshake. Security got her off the stage but sort of shrugged like "Well, we can't arrest her!"
- Photographic - Mart started out by saying "This is the first song we ever recorded." It sounded just like the live version they played back in 1981 if you have any recordings of those early gigs (long single synth note that starts to "wiggle" when Dave sings "Bright lights...(wiggle)". It's pretty true to the original, new wave type sound, not all moderned up. The drums are pretty straightforward.
- The video screen set up was pretty much the same as before. Mart's synth pod was in the back left and they turned it around and brought it forward for the songs were he played synth.
I thought the setlist was much better than before. They dropped some songs like POT that we didn't need, the weak ones from Playing The Angel (although SIM would have been nice to keep) and added some interesting stuff as well. It's kind of like the summer 94 tour was, shorter, but flowed better and kicked all the way to the end - no bathroom break songs mid-set. I never thought I'd love I Feel You live, but this tour it rocks so fucking hard and sounds so sexy and that chick is getting naked... I could go on. Oh, and NO goddamn backup singers!!!
Oh, and there was this little hottie Paris Hilton look-alike (I mean a total dead ringer) dancing in front of me the whole show - VERY nice. She cried the whole time during ETS.
Ok, off to bed. Awesome show! Much better than San Jose in October IMHO.

Well I must say I am THOROUGHLY dissapointed with this lame new, and shortened setlist. Tack this on with the fact that merchanidse has gone up in price, and this horrid Live Here and Now pricing for CD's and I can say I am done giving DM my money on this tour.
Tonight was my 4th show on this tour, and on my birthday I might add, and I can tell you that this new setlist blows hard. I didn't bother reading through the 40+ pages here since I am sure others have posted the setlist, but I find nothing positive about removing "John The Revelator" and "Sinner in Me" for "Stripped" and "In Your Room". "Nothing's Impossible" simply put everyone to sleep, and I will NEVER understand why "Photographic" was ever THOUGHT of being included in this setlist! Martin does "Shake the Disease" as a nice change of pace, but the pace of this show was terrible and to be honest, a bit boing, even for a die hard fan like myself.
The set in its entirety is about 3-4 songs shorter than the previous legs for no explicable reason. If the band are tired, then for God's sake, go home and rest, but please don't give us half hearted efforts like tonight. I spent $1K flying my family down to Mountain View for this show (my son's first ever concert), and we were so dissapointed at the omission of John the Revelator (as one example) that it has left quite a bitter taste in my mouth. It was played all tour, we have watched the videos (bootleg from LA) in preparation for the show, and were dissapointed.
I am VERY glad I did not purchse Vegas tickets as they would be on E-Bay now.
To summarise, this leg stinks and is a slap in the face to fans who have come to expect what they have been given previously.
